News: Cesar Gracie to BJ Penn: 'Don't Be Scared, Homie. Let's Make It Five Rounds'

UFC president Dana White has already stated that the new UFC 137 main event between BJ Penn and Nick Diaz will not be a five-round fight because, as he put it, "they haven't trained for five rounds."

However, Diaz's manager and trainer Cesar Gracie wants the world to know that Diaz is ready and willing to go five rounds with "The Prodigy" on Oct. 29.

"If they can't fight five rounds against each other, how are they going to fight five rounds against GSP?," Gracie said to MMAFighting.com on Tuesday.

Gracie said he told White that Diaz wanted to change the fight to a five-rounder but had yet to hear back from Penn's camp. After speaking to Gracie, both White and Penn could not be immediately reached for comment.

"Dana is good with it," he said. "We've agreed to it. If BJ agrees to it, we'll make it happen."

Gracie added that there was no hesitation on Diaz's part to agree to a five-round fight after hearing the news of GSP's injury and subsequent removal from the card.

"These guys have to prove they are ready. These guys are fighters. BJ has always said he's a warrior. ... The old school days of MMA, back when it was NHB, they fought forever.

"Don't be scared, homie. Let's make it five rounds."

I could see BJ loose a early potential upperhand in the later rounds and then loose du to conditioning or simply lack of will if it ainīt going his way? But thatīs just me speculating a bit?

No matter what we have seen BJ basically giving up hard fights before as well as Diaz overwhelming opponents in the later rounds after a not so good start so who knows?  I definitely want a 5:er instead for those potentially great fights!

Mayby they all could meet halvways and do a 4?  F the CASC!

3 rounds has the potential to be a much better fight in my opinion due to bj's conditioning and the guys have'nt trained for 5 rounds also they agreed upon a 3 round fight so why change it now,so close to the fight. As for cesar gracie saying if they cant go 5 with each other how will they go 5 with gsp,wtf has gsp gotta do with it,none of them are fighting him or even in line to fight him,he has conduit 1st and im sure when the time comes for one of them to fight gsp they will put the work in to enable them to go 5 rounds, the fight is like 9 days away so changin it now is very unprofessional on all parts+defo think as it should stay as a 3rounder as there aint enough time to up there training as there training camps will be basically finished and they will likely be just concentrating on making weight rather than conditioning for the fight itself!!!!! 3 rnd BJ for the win,5 rnd Diaz for the win!

its not a title fight.. 3 rounds. why is this even an issue. because the title fight pulled out is no reason to make this a 5 round.  ITS NOT A TITLE FIGHT

If you want Diaz to win pull for 5 rounder! If your a fan of BJ then go with 3!

Me I like BJ to a certen point and adminires his style with good take down defence, boxing, sick rubber legs etc.. but here I want Diaz to win no doubt so naturally I want a 5 rounder cause I think that is better for Diaz.
Also BJīs been given up inside the octagon in the past when it doesnīt go his way, I donīt think Diaz understand what those words meen in the first place!

First off "gsp is shit" are you new to mma or something, gsp is the only fighter to continually improve with every fight, hes not even a wrestler but yet has the best
wrestling in the UFC, gsp is a martial artist not a backyard brawler its a sport why you think greg jackson is so highly regarded?? he teaches his fighters that this is
a sport and strategy is the key. diaz isnt scared but hes not a true martial artist and his style would only work with gloves on, taking that many hits in a street fight
would end in brain damage. bj early in his career was a very disciplined fighter hence the nickname the prodigy but as soon as it all went to his head his skills went down
hill along with his cardio he spends more time on facebook then training....as for the 5 rounds vs 3 rounds you cant just change the rules when you feel like it, the ufc went through
that crap long ago, e.g. no 12-6 elbows when your full mount but you can 12-6 elbow when you have side control????
