Question: What does Chael Sonnen do after he throttles Brian Stann at UFC 136: "Edgar vs. Maynard 3" last night (Oct. 8, 2011) in Houston, Texas?

Answer: Call out Anderson Silva.

He didn't just call "The Spider" out, though. He laid down a challenge to the current middleweight king and pound-for-pound great that dictates the following -- Sonnen wins, Silva leaves the division; Silva wins, Sonnen leaves the UFC ... forever.

Ridiculous stipulations for an MMA fight, right? This isn't pro wrasslin' here, this is sport fighting.

Well, the fans at the Toyota Center absolutely ate this up. And casual fans are already getting hyped to a rematch between the two best middleweights in the world.

As for UFC President Dana White? He told media at UFC 136 (via USA Today) he would be "f*cking stupid" not to make that fight.

"Those guys really don't like each other. Anderson, I don't know if any of you saw his face when (Chael) won, but he wasn't doing the whole joking around thing. He (Silva) was pissed and he's really upset about the whole smacking his wife on the butt thing and cook him dinner. He's really upset about it. He's really pissed about it. Probably, (I'll make this fight), yeah. More than likely. I don't like to commit to anything the night of the fight, you know what I mean? But yeah, I'd be pretty f*cking stupid if I don't make that fight."

Sonnen earned his first title shot by way of his big mouth and even bigger skill-set. He talked a big game for months leading into UFC 117 and then he went and backed it all up.

For four and a half rounds.

Championship fights are five rounds, though, and he couldn't quite make it to the finish before finding himself tangled up in the long limbs of "The Spider."

One triangle induced tap later and Silva put that chapter behind him.

Now that Sonnen has run through Stann and thrown down the gauntlet once again, however, that book is about to be reopened. But can Sonnen rewrite the story with a happier ending for himself? Or will Silva play spoiler once again?
