With the third installment of the critically acclaimed and bestselling "UFC Undisputed" videogame franchise set for a January 2012 debut, officials are beginning to roll out the details.

And while many MMA fans are looking forward to the release because of the addition of the UFC's bantamweight and featherweight divisions, as well as a "PRIDE rules" game-play option and fighter walkouts, THQ is also making additional tweaks to gameplay.

The development company recently released its first "Inside the Octagon" video segment, highlighting several key changes to "UFC Undisputed 3," particularly in the ground game.

The video features producers THQ officials commentating on a "UFC Undisputed 3" bout between former WEC products Ben Henderson and Donald Cerrone. The video starts with the game's new fighter walk-in sequences and then outlines a number of changes to the game, including the updated gameplay options that allow for simpler controls to the sometimes-complex title.

New positions and animations, as well as a new submission system (sans "Shine") are shown, as well as new positions such as a standing guillotine choke and seated positions against the cage. Additionally, fighters can now sway on the floor to avoid damage, and the bouts conclude with a FightMetric-style data presentation.

"'UFC Undisputed 3' is on track to deliver an incredible virtual MMA experience unlike any other," Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President of Core Games at THQ stated when the title was first officially announced. "This product is intense, engaging and highly competitive while still being extremely accessible, making it a must-have for millions of UFC fans, traditional fighting game enthusiasts and more casual sports fans around the world."

The official YouTube channel of "UFC Undisputed 3" features additional teaser footage. Fans can also choose whether Frankie Edgar, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre or Cain Velasquez should grace the cover of the game by visiting UFC.com/ufcundisputed3.

The first installment of "UFC Undisputed" debuted in May 2009 and the second in May 2010. The most adventurist MMA title to date, "Undisputed" had sold millions of copies, earned very positive reviews, and won an array of industry awards. The game was developed by Yuke's and is published by THQ.
