News: Xtreme Fighting Organization sends three fighters to UFC this year

When the XFO said they were going to go big and put on a show at the Sears Centre, they weren't messing around. The show was set up to either be the launching pad to get Jeff Curran back into the UFC or be his last fight. After all, if you are going to go out, why not go out with a bang.

Curran's entrance was nothing short of signaling the UFC that he wanted in. Coming out dressed in Team Curran blue with a blue hat that had the UFC logo on it. Even when he removed the hat, his manager Brian Butler kept the hat pointed at the camera that was streaming the event live to the world. When Curran was announced the victor by unanimous decision, he let everyone know his plans were to get called up to the UFC or retire.

Nearly two months went by and there was little word on if the UFC had a spot for him. There were reports that they were interested, but was there a void in the roster that Curran could fill? In July, he got the call that he would indeed be called back to the promotion he desired to fight at.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Over labor day weekend Eric Schafer competed in the main event for "XFO 41: Outdoor War 7". The fight was his first trip down to middleweight and first fight back in fifteen months. He stated that his goal was to get back into the UFC and that he thought he would need at couple more wins at the weight class to get that call.

But he didn't. About one week after his fight, he too got the call that the UFC wanted him. This time it was for a shorter notice fight as he is stepping in for an injured Nick Catone at UFC 136 in early October.

Finally, continuing the trend of XFO fighters getting a call to the most recognized organization, on Monday it was announced that Mike Stumpf would be fighting on super short notice as he fights this Saturday at UFN 25.

Stumpf, fought along side Curran at XFO 39, returning to action after nearly three years. He was victorious in his bout against Dan Bolden and as a result put himself on the UFC's radar.

XFO is undoubtedly looking to continue this trend when they return to the Sears Centre in December of this year.
