Strikeforce heavyweight Brett Rogers has been arrested on third-degree-assault charges following an alleged altercation with his wife Wednesday in Apple Valley, Minn.

Rogers, who competed in the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix just two weeks ago, allegedly strangled and punched his wife after reportedly admitting to drinking earlier in the night.

In addition to the felony charge, he's also been issued a misdemeanor charge of endangerment of a child. According to the report, Rogers' daughter tried to intervene during the alleged altercation, though Rogers told police his wife struck him first.

According to the report, Rogers' wife reportedly was "strangled, punched repeatedly in the head and face, and lost a tooth in the struggle."

Bail was set at $100,000 during Wednesday's hearing. His next hearing is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. CT (local time).

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) contacted Rogers' trainer, Mike Reilly, for comment. But he said he's had little communication with the fighter in recent weeks.

"I have no comment about any of that stuff," he said. "Pretty much I train people, and I worry about them when they're actually working in the gym. So, I don't have any control what they do outside of here, or any concern as far as what they do outside of here. So, I guess I have no comment about the situation. I don't know anything about it."

Rogers (11-3 MMA, 2-3 SF), 30, suffered a submission loss to Josh Barnett earlier this month in an opening-round tournament fight. The EliteXC vet opened his career with a 10-0 mark but has dropped three of his past four fights while facing notables such as Fedor Emelianenko and Alistair Overeem.
