News: Parent company of the UFC, Zuffa LLC, purchases Strikeforce

LAS VEGAS -- In a transaction that will forever change the mixed martial arts world, Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has purchased its top competitor, Strikeforce.

UFC president Dana White spoke to MMA Fighting exclusively about why the historic purchase happened, the terms of the deal, what this means for the Strikeforce brand and fighters and much more.

I hope this doesn't mean that Dana White turns into Don King. Strikeforce has some really good talent and what's gonna happen to women's mma? Strikeforce was just beginning to make a big name for themselves and now it's all in Dana's hands.

I'm skeptical about this transition because I'm not sure if Dana is really going to put Strikeforce's best competition up against his own or did he buy Strikeforce to silence the competition?

Only time will tell!

"business as usual"?!?! ur making money from both companies now and there is no competition. how is it business as usual? In a few years i guarantee zuffa will merge strikeforce and ufc once all the good fighters are over in the ufc. after that fact the top fighters will have no choice but to join ufc becasue there is no other promotion to pay good money. which means its harder for up and coming fighters to fund their MMA career because they will either get payed $500 at a no-name org compared to ufc paying $20,000. strikeforce was the middle. and no doubt it will be gone in a few years. i cant see how this is good for MMA?!?

How many times did Dana have to tell that idiot that it was going to be business as usual and that strikeforce is still it's own company and not being interfered with by the UFC..?

Turning into Don King is exactly what he is doing! imo! "business as usual" he said about 100 times on every question where Ariel tried to get some details.

I meen I am glad for all the possible fights in the future, but what about fighters like Daley, Barnett etc..? They are good fighters that have put their entire life into this but when their contracts is up they´r fucked! They have no way to make real money anymoore if Dana continues with this eliminating of the competition (and he will), and a pro mma career is relativly short.

Here´s another question, why aren´t companies like Microsoft, Intel etc.. allowed to behave like they wan´t and eliminate every threath but UFC are? SF had followers and Dana recognized that, that makes them a threath.
