News: White says Silva awaits UFC on FOX 2 winner, regardless of Sonnens claims

CHICAGO – Regardless of what Chael Sonnen (26-11-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC) says, should he defeat Michael Bisping (22-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) at Saturday's UFC on FOX 2 event, Anderson Silva (31-4 MMA, 14-0 UFC) is next.

UFC president Dana White clarified the organization's plans at today's UFC on FOX 2 pre-event presser in Chicago.

"Chael is nuts," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "He says all kinds of crazy things. 'He's the champion.' Listen to me. OK? Listen to me. He's not the champion.

"He will fight Anderson Silva if he wins. He will not fight for the heavyweight championship or Jon 'Bones' Jones. I have to have a separate press conference to stop all the stuff that Chael Sonnen says."

Bisping and Sonnen meet in the co-feature of Saturday's fight card, which takes place at United Center in Chicago. The main card airs on FOX.

Sonnen, of course, has stated he doesn't believe Silva will ever fight him again following the pair's memorable UFC 117 matchup, in which the challenger dominated for four-and-a-half rounds before relenting to the champ. Since that fight, Sonnen has alternated between campaigning for a rematch and dismissing the need for one.

As he prepares to take on British slugger Bisping, Sonnen is apparently in one if his dismissive stages.

Sonnen brought a replica UFC belt to the dais, much to the surprise of White, and claimed it was Silva's title, which he stole "like a gangster in the night."

"This is the world championship title, which I took from Anderson Silva," Sonnen said."In this country, possession is nine-tenths of the law. Finders keepers, losers weepers, and if he wants it back, he knows where to find me."

Following his win over Sonnen, Silva has gone on to register impressive stoppage wins over Yushin Okami and Vitor Belfort. He's currently nursing a few lingering injuries and is expected to fight again in June, when the UFC travels to Sao Paulo.

Silva has remained mostly silent on Sonnen, preferring to let the victory speak for itself and not willing to lend any more spotlight to the trasktalking extraordinaire that is his current nemesis.

Sonnen claims his silence simply proves his irrelevance.

"As far as I'm concerned, he is as relevant as Mike Tyson, and the only thing he hasn't done is announce his retirement," Sonnen said. "He should paint his face, gain 100 pounds, sit in the third row and hope that somebody remembers who they are because neither of those guys matter anymore."

Of course, there is currently one man who can prevent Silva vs. Sonnen II, and that is Bisping. "The Count" appeared confident throughout the presser, as well as in a nose-to-nose staredown that followed.

"He can keep his fake belt and shove it up his ass," Bisping said. "He ain't fighting Anderson Silva."

I think heīs wonderful, he is a really funny guy if disregard from the fact that what he say is not the truth.

I kind of look at him as a stand up comedian, then of course he is a bit crazy but that just makes it even more fun.

The stupid ones are the the so called mma fans that actually believe what he says to the degree where dana white has to go out and explain IT IS NOT THE TRUTH, right?

Yea no doubt heīs clever and funny but you would expect that to come from someone that is undefeated or close to it.
Heīs lost 11 times in his career so when he says heīs the champ it just makes it sound ridiculous.

Not to mention that we have heard the same stuff for over a year now, itīs like a broken record..
And judging from PPV buys he doesnīt contribute as much as you would think considering Silva vs Belfort generated more sales then Silva vs Sonnen and we know how much Sonnen promoted that fight.

Yeah no doubt heīs being a bit ridickulus, insane even?

But silva and belfort also is 2 major names in the game + add to that the fact that Brazil is being sucked into UFC fast now and I can only imagine how many PPVīs being sold there? Just speculating though, donīt know myself.

I wanna see a rematch for sonnen, but to be honest I also wanna see a rematch with belfort! so many potentially good fights we could have with silva but for that to happen he gotta stay injury free and step up as well. Bones is another one that must happen soon, not to soon but not to late either concidering silvas age?

Brazil was viewed on national TV meaning no PPVīs, only american PPVīs

Yea i want to see it myself for sure, and with Belfort but iīd rather see him spend his last years fighting Jon Jones and GSP.
Considering he already finished both of them you know.

Second time around its going to generate a lot more PPV buys than their first match up, Dana White was saying he might have this fight in a football stadium.

I think Chael is entertaining, more with his mouth than his fighting style.

Wow that is indeed some interseting info destructor, like a real footboll/soccer stadium would be absolutely insane!
Yeah exactly me to find sonnen entertaining, but Diaz that many actually think is a weirdo seems like a really decent guy to me, the world is upside down, lol

Regarding GSP we will never see that fight I beileve, and silva himself donīt seem to eager to even fight Bones in the first place? But surely heīll step up if being told so? I hope we get to see a proper super fight in 2012, I really do!

Iīm supposed to be impressed with Sonnenīs last fight? All that talk and he had a rough time against Bisping who in my mind won round 1 and 2.

Goes to show that you can talk your way to a title shot. twice..

Yeap you can, but that is nothing new Iīll guess?

Maybe Bisping were just good? But also I though sonnen looked sloppy and tired early in the fight already? Most likely a combination though since several factors do play in? But when facing silva sonnen must be his very best, otherwise it could end quickly?
